Reaching at-risk women for PrEP delivery: What can we learn from clinical trials in sub-Saharan Africa?
The annual Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI) brings together top basic, translational, and clinical researchers from around the world to share the latest studies, important developments, and best research methods in the ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS and related infectious diseases. CROI 2019 will be held from March 4 to March 7, 2019, at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Washington.
Public dissemination of tools that have been created for existing PrEP demonstration projects aimed at guiding PrEP implementation for different populations can facilitate the development of ongoing and future efforts. They provide a framework upon which project coordinators can model their own programs, generate ideas for educational and marketing materials, and provide key guidance on opportunities and challenges, among a range of other benefits.
The PrEP Costing Guidelines provide a framework for estimating the cost of providing pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), which is the use of antiretroviral (ARV) drugs for preventing the acquisition of HIV infection. They are intended to provide a PrEP-specific resource for costing that could be accessible to individuals tasked with collecting, evaluating, and utilizing cost data, and who may have differing levels of familiarity with economics.
