Though timely initiation of antiretroviral therapy (ART) is a vital component of effective HIV prevention, care and treatment, people who inject drugs are less likely to receive ART than their non-drug using counterparts. In an effort to increase access to ART for people who inject drugs, we examined perceived benefits, challenges, and recommendations for implementing an integrated methadone and ART service delivery model at an opioid treatment program (OTP) clinic in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Depression, one of the most common psychiatric disorders, is two- to three-times more prevalent in people living with HIV (PLHIV) than in the general population in many settings as shown in western countries but remains neglected in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). We aimed to summarize the available evidence on the prevalence of depression and associated factors according to the scales used and the treatment status in PLHIV in SSA.

A strengthened focus on SRHR/HIV integrated healthcare service delivery can support the achievement of joint health outcomes and goes beyond a single disease to represent a more holistic perspective.

In recognition of the need for greater attention to the global TB epidemic, the International AIDS Society (IAS) is organizing TB2016, a two-day conference dedicated exclusively to this infectious disease immediately preceding AIDS 2016 in Durban, South Africa. This meeting incorporates the biannual SA TB Conference.
