Welcome to our fourth issue of the research digest. The digest offers article abstracts from peer-reviewed literature related to HIV and AIDS in southern Africa and is designed to keep you in touch with the rapidly expanding evidence base pertaining to HIV in the region.
In this issue, we have assembled 68 abstracts published from June through July 2018 that feature evidence from Angola (1), Botswana (1), Eswatini (2), Malawi (11), Mozambique (3), South Africa (36), Zambia (6) and Zimbabwe (10).

With new prevention strategies on the horizon and HIV incidence stabilizing or declining in many parts of the world, the tides are beginning to turn on the HIV epidemic. Between 2002 and 2010, new HIV infections globally declined from 3.1 million to 2.7 million.
