The Child Trauma Conference has been one of the leading conferences in South Africa to address child-trauma and abuse, and brings together clinicians, researchers, policy makers, media, and members of the community in the promotion of child protection.
Jelly Beanz Inc is a Non-Profit Organization which deals with children and families who have experienced trauma and abuse. Jelly Beanz Inc offers direct services to children and families, develops resources to support assessment and interventions, offers training and mentorship to professionals working with children, and advocates for service-delivery to children who have suffered trauma and abuse.
The 9th annual Child Trauma Conference is a pre-conference to the 8th annual Southern African AIDS conference, and is scheduled to take place on 10 and 11 June 2017. The Foundation for Professional Development and Jelly Beanz Inc are partnering to host the event.
One in three South African children experience sexual abuse, 2.1 million children are orphaned due to AIDS and South Africa has the highest rate of baby killings in the world. With regards to these statistics, this conference will focus on 3 important themes namely: Childhood trauma, abuse and neglect in Southern Africa; Children affected by HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa and sexual abuse of children in Southern Africa.
